   Classes for beginners to masters                 9:00-11:00- Tournament games

   6 USCF rated tournament games & analysis       11:00-12:00- Group instruction

   Blitz and Bughouse tournaments               12:00-12:45- Lunch/free time

   Simultaneous exhibitions                           12:45-1:30- Instruction

   Written evaluation by instructor                1:30-2:15- Sports activity

   Sports activities and computer lab             2:15-4:00- Instruction/analysis

   Camp t-shirt, folder, and all materials

   Lunches included

    Pizza and ice cream, trophies, medals, and certificates on Friday.

 

Cost for the week is $275. (Each additional camper from the same family is $225.) Registration is limited to 50 Participants

Goals of our Camp

 

To promote the benefits of chess, which includes: enhanced problem solving and logical reasoning skills, increased attention span, and improved patience and self esteem.  To enjoy working with and gaining knowledge from expert and master chess players.

 


 

 

Our Excellent Instructional Staff

 

 

Ilya Korzhenevich --Russian Candidate Master (equivalent to mid-level U.S. master)

 

Ilya is the 1993 Junior Russian Champion Prize Winner.  His chess teaching experience includes:

 

8 years of school, individual, and group instruction at all levels

Presently a full time chess instructor

Coach of 2002 7th grade and 2004 5th grade Illinois Champions

Coach of 2004 Frosh-Soph IL State Champion High School Team

ICA-Warren Junior Program (schools & top 50 scholastic individuals) – over 4 years

Blind-fold chess exhibitions

Chess Camp Instructor – 8 week-long camps

 

Blair Machaj -- USCF Master – Rating 2258

 

Blair has been a member of 5 championship teams throughout Elementary, Junior High, and High School. His chess teaching experience includes:

 

Individual Instruction– 14 years

Tournament Director– 13 years (Senior Tournament Director for about 5 years)

School Chess Instructor– 13 years

Chess Camp Instructor– several week long camps every year for the past several years

 

Joe Splinter -- USCF Expert -- Rating 2113

 

Joe has 20 years of scholastic chess teaching experience.  In 1998, he received the Colias Teaching in Excellence Award.  His experience includes:

 

Individual instruction – 21 Years

Chess Coach, Benjamin Junior High – 16 Years (4 State Championships!)

Chess Coach, West Chicago Community H.S. – 10 Years

ICA-Warren Junior Program (schools & top 50 scholastic individuals) – 7 Years

Chess Instructor, West Chicago Park District – 9 Years

Chess Instructor, Poplar Creek Library (Streamwood) – 8 Years

Chess Camp Instructor – 9 week-long camps
